Platform Terms of Service

Version 1.0·Effective 2026-09-05

In short. You get an account to use our platforms for your own work. The data is licensed to you, not sold, and you may not redistribute it. Free accounts are limited; Pro is a subscription. We may change or end the service, and either of us can end your account. These terms are governed by English law.

1. Who these terms are between

These terms are a contract between you and Secern Research Ltd ("Secern", "we") for use of app.secerndata.com and any other Secern platform ("the Platform"). If your organisation has signed a separate subscription agreement with us, that agreement governs your organisation's use and prevails over these terms where they conflict; these terms still apply to you as an individual user.

2. Your account

You must give a working email address and keep your sign-in details to yourself. One person per account. You are responsible for what is done under your account. We may suspend an account that appears compromised or misused.

3. Tiers

Free. Available on self-service registration. Access is limited: a window of recent history that ends some months short of the latest filing, market and state figures only, no operator-level detail. We may change the limits.
Trial. A time-limited Pro account granted at our discretion after a request. It ends automatically, and we may end it earlier.
Pro. A paid subscription under an order form or subscription agreement.

4. The data licence

Your use of data on the Platform is licensed under Schedule 1, the Data Licence, which forms part of these terms.

5. Acceptable use

You may not: share credentials; access the Platform other than through its interface, including by scraping, bulk download or automated requests beyond normal use; attempt to bypass access limits; interfere with the Platform or its security; or use the Platform for anything unlawful.

6. Accuracy and reliance

The Platform compiles figures published by regulators and other public sources, and adds estimates that we calculate. Sources restate; we version rather than overwrite, and we flag validation status where we can. We do not warrant that the data is complete, current or free of error. Nothing on the Platform is investment advice. You are responsible for decisions you make using it.

7. Changes to the service

We may change, suspend or withdraw features. We will give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce a paid subscription, and a refund of prepaid fees for the affected period if you end the subscription because of them.

8. Ending the agreement

You can close your account at any time by emailing us. We can suspend or close an account for breach of these terms, with notice where practical. Sections 4, 6, 9 and 10 survive termination.

9. Liability

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, business or data. Our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period, or £100 for a free or trial account. Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

10. General

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction. If a term is unenforceable the rest stands. We may assign these terms to a successor business. Notices to us go to support@secernresearch.com; notices to you go to your account email.

11. Changes to these terms

We will post changes here with a new version number and effective date. For material changes you will be asked to accept the new version when you next sign in; continuing to use the Platform after the effective date is acceptance of non-material changes.
