Data Licence

In short. You may use the data for your own organisation's internal work. You may not republish it, pass it on, resell it, or build a competing dataset from it. Short quotations with credit are fine on Pro. The compilation, the estimates and the presentation are ours.

This licence is Schedule 1 to the Platform Terms of Service and applies to all data, estimates, charts, tables and exports available through any Secern platform ("the Data").

1. Grant

Secern grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Data for your own internal business purposes for as long as your account is in good standing. A subscription agreement may widen this grant for your organisation, for example to permit citation in research distributed to its clients.

2. Restrictions

You may not:

• redistribute, publish, resell, sublicense or otherwise make the Data or any substantial part of it available to anyone outside your organisation;
• post the Data, screenshots of it or figures from it publicly, including on social media, without our written consent;
• use the Data to build, train or improve a dataset, model or product that competes with a Secern platform;
• extract the Data other than through features the Platform provides for that purpose, or beyond the volume those features allow;
• remove or obscure any notice of source or ownership.

3. Permitted quotation

On a Pro or subscription account you may quote insubstantial extracts of the Data in your own analysis, provided the source is credited as:

Anything more than an insubstantial extract, or any external publication, needs our written consent or a subscription agreement that permits it.

4. Ownership

Figures published by regulators are public information. The selection, arrangement, reconciliation and versioning of those figures, the estimates we calculate, the validation status we assign and the way the Data is presented are the property of Secern, protected by copyright and, in the UK and EU, by database right. This licence is a contract about how you may use the Data; it does not transfer ownership of anything.

5. No warranty, no advice

The Data is provided as is. Sources restate and are sometimes late or incomplete; estimates are estimates. We do not warrant accuracy, completeness or timeliness. The Data is not investment advice and we accept no liability for decisions made in reliance on it.

6. Trial accounts

A trial is for evaluating the Platform. The same restrictions apply. A trial may be withdrawn at any time and ends automatically at the end of its term.

7. Enforcement

We log usage and may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe this licence has been breached. Breach of sections 2 or 3 would cause harm that damages alone cannot repair, and you agree that we may seek an injunction to stop it.

8. Survival

Sections 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 continue after your account closes.
